Plural forms of animals, professions and We are
Materials
Vocabulary flashcards of animals which are not in the song.
Instructions
The children mime and/or make an appropriate sound for each animal or profession. If
possible, the children should decide each mime and sound.
The children wave their arms in the air when singing the chorus, We are the World .
After practising the basic version of the song, the teacher (or one of the children) uses
pictures or words to introduce different animals and professions one by one for the
children to sing. If the children don’t know the English name of one of the animals or
professions, they can quickly think of a mime or sound. The teacher presses the pause
button on the cassette player to give them time to work out what to mime or sing.
Follow up
The animals and professions can be changed.
The flashcards can be pictures or words for the children to read.
Other things can be introduced (e.g. tables, bananas) and the children have to pretend
to be each thing as it is introduced (e.g. they put their bodies into the shape of a
banana).
