PROCEDURE/TREATMENT
FOR MINOR HEAD INJURY
1 – Take History – Use Witnesses
2 – Assess, Clean and Cover Any Wounds
3 – Use Glasgow Coma Scale ( G C S )
4 – Check Eye Opening, Best Verbal, Best Motor Response
5 – If G C S is 15/15 Still Obtain Radio Medical Advice
6 – Review Hourly
A minor head injury can be defined as a casualty with a blow to the head and has NOT resulted in –
- Loss of consciousness
- Neurological deficits
- Repeated vomiting
- Neck pain
- Drowsiness
- Visual disturbance
- Headache
- Scalp lacerations
