General remarks
Dear Customer,
Congratulations on purchasing a Naviflash navigation system. You have chosen a
high-quality product that is extremely convenient to use. The purchasing, production
as well as service and sales at Naviflash are subject to strict quality management
controls according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
The navigation system complies with security standards CE and e1. You will find the
corresponding CE declaration of conformity on the Internet: www.naviflash.com. We
shall grant you a warranty of two years for all components of this system.
Should it be necessary to send the complete navigation system back to the
manufacturer for service purposes (e.g. repair), please note:
- Send the complete navigation system separately from the CF card and / or CD / DVD.
- Send the CF card and / or CD / DVD in a separate shipment.
Otherwise the manufacturer does not assume responsibility for the receipt of the CF
card / CD / DVD.
In order to enjoy the complete convenience of your new navigation system, please
read the Operating Guidelines carefully and keep it for reference in your car.
If you have further queries with regard to the installation or operation of the
navigation system, please contact your specialist dealer, who will be pleased to advise
you and will forward your comments to the manufacturer. If your query is urgent,
please contact our hotline. You will find the phone and fax numbers on the inside front
page of the Operating Guidelines.

The GPS antenna can be installed either inside (e.g. centre of the car dashboard or the
hat rack) or outside of the vehicle. If installing of the GPS antenna inside the vehicle
please use the enclosed reflection plate in order to enable an even better reception of
GPS signals inside the vehicle. The plate can be fixed on the roof with a magnetic
mount (Fig. 2a and 2b). Please note that if the antenna conductor is led through the
door seal, humidity can infiltrate the interior of the vehicle when it rains heavily.
If you wish to install the GPS antenna in an outside mirror shell or in a plastic bumper,
please first check whether the cable length of the GPS antenna is sufficient and
whether the GPS antenna can be installed at the planned installation point with the
top pointed to the sky. A distance of approx. 10 cm to metal parts should be observed.
Please note that metal coated glass with thermal protection absorbs signals from the
outside to the inside and vice versa. Installation of the antenna on heating wires is not
recommended, as this can also cause interference.

In addition, the receipt and processing of the satellite data of the GPS antenna can be
disturbed for a short time in direct sunlight on hot days and / or the heating of the
passenger compartment to more than 70 degrees centigrade (parking situation).
The CF card reader inside the monitor accepts the storage medium CompactFlash
(CF). The CF card, which is required for the operation of the navigation system, can be
read with this device and is considerably
smaller and more functional than e.g. a CD
ROM drive.

If you have e.g. bought new maps from
Naviflash GmbH and want to use them with
the navigation system it might be
nessessary to exchange the CF card. Please
read the chapter "license agreement for the
final customer". Installing operating system
updates (see respective chapter) can also
be a reason to change a CF card.

When inserting the CF card please ensure
its top is directed towards the monitor (see
drawings A to C). The top is marked by a
triangle which shows the inserting
direction. Please do not try to insert the CF
card into the CF mouse in any other way.

The remote control unit enables you to enter information and operate the system.
Adjust the remote control to the monitor so that the infrared receiver catches signals
from the remote control unit.
Shift key:
Enables you to activate the day or night
lighting of the display.
Escape key:
Enables you to easily cancel a
confirmed entry and return to the
previous menu level.
Scroll keys:
Enable you to scroll
from left to right and
from top to bottom
in the menu. During
an active routing,
the upper and lower
keys adjust the
volume.
Enter key:
Enables you to confirm
your choice and
continue with the
entry.
Information key:
Enables you to obtain information about your
destination within the current route navigation.
Press this key once more, to activate the screen
saver. Six seconds later the display switches back to
the route navigation. If no route navigation is active
you can activate the screen saver from any menu by
means of this key. Press the information key again to
chose to display the distance (km/h) or the time
taken, in the screen saver.
Mute button:
Enables you to adjust the
volume of the navigation
system's voice prompts by
using the left and right rocker
scroll keys. Press the key
again to set the volume to
mute. Press the key once
more to return to the previous
volume level. Six seconds
later the display will return to
the previous screen.
