ET 200X DESINA Distributed I/O Devices
Description
System characteristics
The DESINA module is based on
the ET 200X distributed I/O sta-
tion family. This I/O station family
is characterized by its modular
construction and the IP 65/IP 67
degree of protection.
The ET 200X DESINA modules
represent an extension of the
I/O station family:
•Basic module
BM 143/DESINA, 8-channel
• Expansion module
EM 143/DESINA, 8-channel
The basic ET 200X system
characteristics are retained:
• Designed as an ET 200X
basic and expansion module,
i.e. with connections to the
bus and power supplies on
the basic module, self-
assembling internal bus and
power supplies for expan-
sion modules (but connectors
and voltages in accordance
with DESINA)
• Up to seven expansion mod-
ules per basic module can be
connected (8 to 64 channels
acc. to DESINA, modularity in
groups of 8)
• Standardized I/O response to
EN 50 170 (manufacturer-
independent on all standard
masters)
• IP 65 / IP 67 degree of protec-
tion (IP 68 if required)
• Glass-fibre strengthened
plastic housing for ET 200X
made from PBT (polybutylen-
terephtalate) with high
mechanical resistance and
high resistance to chemical
substances
• For combining with the avail-
able modules of the ET 200X
spectrum (e.g. analog mod-
ules, motor starters, pneu-
matic components)
• In contrast to the current
ET 200X basic modules, in
the ET 200X DESINA mod-
ules, the connectors are
designed to the DESINA
specification.
A hybrid connector, available
for example from Harting
(Han Brid), is used for con-
nection of PROFIBUS-DP
(infeed and looping on) and
the power supply to the
BM 143/DESINA module.
• Compliance with guidelines:
– EMC guideline 89/336/EEC
– Low-voltage guideline
73/23/EEC (in combination
with load feeders, not
applicable for 24 V
devices)
– Framework conditions
for all SIMATIC products

Constructional design
Status displays
Two different methods of
mounting the devices are pos-
sible:
• Direct mounting on the
machine by means of fixing
screws (as with the current
ET 200X)
• Rail mounting by means of
an adapter plate
This adapter plate is offered
as an accessory. The
adapter plate will be avail-
able shortly after start of
delivery for the modules.
Stability is tested within the
framework of type testing.
The spacing between rails is
specified in agreement with
VDW/IWB.
