Module DRAFTING is used to a technical and an assembly drawing creation. Generally drafting file is
associated with Part (technical drawing) or Assembly (assembly drawing). Drafting can be accessed in
the following way: Menu START ==> Mechanical Design ==> Drafting (fig.1).

Module DRAFTING starts with the Dialog Box presented on the picture 2 where a user can select
default number of projections, dimensioning standard, paper size, scale, etc..

The Main elements of Drafting environment are presented on the picture 3 and 4. Similar to other
CATIA modules the main window of Drafting module is divided into two main sections: Specification
Tree and Paper Sheet area.

There are two layers to be accessed in Drafting:
Sheet Background (a frame and a table are located at this layer).
Working view (all elements of the drawing are located on this layer).
A user can change a layer by menu EDIT ==> Sheet Background or EDIT ==> Working view.
Start of a new drawing is begun from a frame and table creation. Title blocks in CATIA can be
generated in two ways:
Manually create a template drawing using geometry tools, located at the Geometry Creation
Toolbar.
Customized macros - recommended method.
Following steps are necessary to insert a title block into a drawing by macros method:
1. Click Edit ==> Background to enter the frame and title editor mode of CATIA.
2. Select the Frame Creation icon.
3. Select the type of title block in the Style of Titleblock pull-down menu (fig.5).
4. Select Creation as the Action to apply.
5. Select Apply.
6. Select OK.
