Part Transformation Features (4h)
MIRROR function
MIRROR function is one of the duplication feature available in CATIA. The main aim of this option is generating a mirror reflection of the selected part relative to selected plane (fig.1). This function can be found in Transformation Features group located at the "Insert" top menu or at the Toolbar .
Application of the MIRROR function consists of three steps: selection 3D operations that will be base of mirror (it is recommended to select operations on tree), run MIRROR, selection of reflection plane (which will be symmetry of the model).

PATTERN Functions
PATTERN function is one of the duplication feature available in CATIA. There are two versions of PATTERN: RECTANGULAR PATTERN and CIRCULAR PATTERN The main aim of these options is generating duplication of the selected 3D operation. These functions can be found in Transformation Features group located at the "Insert" top menu or at the Toolbar .
Use the following steps to create a rectangular pattern (fig.2):
1 Select the RECTANGULAR PATTERN icon.
2. Select the 3D feature to be patterned (this step can be first).
3. Select the Parameters type from the pull-down menu.
4. Define the First Direction of the pattern (number elements in one row).
5. Select Second Direction of the pattern (number rows).
6. Push OK
Fig. 2 Definition of rectangular pattern
Use the following steps to create a circular pattern (fig.3):
1. Select the 3D feature to be patterned (this step can be second).
2. Select the CIRCULAR PATTERN icon.
4. Click inside the Reference element field and select the direction reference.
5. Specify the number of instances and angular spacing
Remarks:
· Circular patterns are radial and defined about an axis. The axis reference can be defined by an edge, a line, or a normal vector off a planar surface or datum plane.
· The Crown Definition tab allows the feature(s) to be patterned in a radial direction as well as around an axis. There are three Parameters options to define the crown.

SHELL function
The SHELL function allows to create a shell element from solid element with control of every wall of solid one. This functions can be found in Dress-Up Features group located at the "Insert" top menu or at the Toolbar .

EXERCISES
According to the drawing presented below create a Part by using SHAFT, HOLE, CIRCULAR PATTERN, EDGE FILLET, CHAMFER function and save the Part.
Fig. 5 The drawing for the exercise 1
According to the drawing presented below create a Part by using SHAFT, POCKET, CIRCULAR PATTERN, EDGE FILLET, CHAMFER function and save the Part.
Hint: Use CIRCULAR PATTERN with option "Instance(s) & unequal angular spacing".
