4 out of 5.00 - Film: 4 Extras: 4 Video: 4 Audio: 4 - 11/13/2008 While other studios have abandoned or at least scaled back on their releases of interactive sex DVDs, Digital Sin is still one studio that remains loyal to the genre. Their latest release is My Plaything: Ashlynn Brooke, which proves to be a solid (albeit not spectacular) entry in the My Plaything series. Digital Sin has divided up this release into three discs. Disc 1 contains interactive sex where Ashlynn plays the "good" girl. Disc 2 has the darker side of Ms. Brooke, playing the "bad" girl; while the third disc in this set houses all of the bonus materials. One downside to the title is that although the opening menus and bonus features (including deleted scenes from the shoot) are all anamorphically enhanced on this release, the actual interactive presentation is not, meaning widescreen TV owners will have to put up with a "windowboxed" experience or use the "zoom" control on their remotes. I'm assuming Digital did it this way to keep the menu selections out of the actual video of Ashlynn - but I've seen other studios go anamorphic with the interactive selections as part of the picture, and it's really not that big of a distraction. Something Digital Sin might want to think about trying the next time around. Both Disc 1 and Disc 2 contain pretty much the same kind of sexual options, with a couple of variations. Each disc provides the options of Tease, Masturbate, Foreplay and Sex, with each of these four options providing two angles of viewing to watch. On Disc 1, the Tease option takes viewers to a classroom where Ashlynn is dressed in schoolgirl outfit; while over on Disc 2 we get to see Ashlynn in a black bikini on a construction site. The Tease selection on both DVDs gives users the chance to watch her play with her tits, her pussy or her ass. The Masturbate selection on Disc 1 takes us to a locker room where Ashlynn is in a cheerleader outfit. Here, viewers can watch her get off using her fingers, a dildo or a vibrator. The Disc 2 Masturbate option is a little more exciting as it has Ashlynn in a jail cell with the options to watch her use her fingers, a vibrator (actually one of those larger Hitachi Wands) or a third option that has Ashlynn sliding a red butt plug up her ass while using a blue vibe on her pussy. All the above include a "Cum On Cue" option that allows users to watch Ashlynn make herself cum various ways, depending on how one is watching her masturbate. The Foreplay options on both DVDs have Ashlynn lying in a bed. Disc 1 gives viewers a selection between a guy (or "you") rubbing his hands over Ashlynn's entire body, fingering her pussy, licking her pussy (actually just the camera going up and down rather than any real tongue action), or having her give a blowjob. Disc 2 allows the user to watch Ashlynn get fingered, have a blue vibrator used on her, get titty fucked, or give a blowjob. Once again, "Cum On Cue" selections are available for each of the above. On Disc 1, the Sex option consists of Scissor (which is actually just missionary with Ashlynn holding up her right leg), Doggy and Cowgirl; while Disc 2 gives viewers Missionary, Doggy and Cowgirl. "Cum On Cue" options are here as well. The interactivity is what one would expect, although Digital Sin makes no new leaps or additions to what we've seen on the last several My Plaything releases. The title is well made, and my only serious complaints about the release is that the cumshots (all of which appear to be real, by the way) aren't as noteworthy as one might hope, with a couple of "weak" shots in the bunch. Also, there's not a whole lot of difference between "good" Ashlynn and "bad" Ashlynn on the two DVDs. She actually comes off as nice and sweet on both of them. Disc 3 contains a nice selection of bonus materials, including some deleted footage from the interactive shoot that didn't make the final cut. There's also five scenes with Ashlynn taken from other Digital Sin/New Sensation titles. These consist of scenes with Kurt Lockwood (from Fresh Outta High School 5), Manuel Ferrara (from Bound To Please), Billy Glide (from Ashlynn's Reality Check), Tommy Gunn (from Addicted 4) and Jordan Ash (from Schoolgirl P.O.V.). All of these scenes are presented in anamorphic widescreen with the exception of the scene with Billy Glide, which is only letterboxed. An 11 1-minute interview featurette with Ashlynn; a 6 1-minute slide show; and trailers for the releases of All About Ashlynn, Ashlynn Goes To College, Pick-Up Chicks and Double Play 5 round out the bonus features. Even though it's not a flawless production, given the lack of interactive DVDs this past year, My Plaything: Ashlynn Brooke ranks pretty high on the list. It's certainly purchase-worthy for fans of Ms. Brooke and her adult work.
