Introduction
This level test is intended to distinguish between
students who should use Connections 1 and those
who should use Connections 2. The test contains
eighty multiple-choice items which test grammar
and vocabulary from these levels of Connections.
The test should take approximately thirty minutes to
complete. Students will require a pen or a pencil to
complete the test. Answers are marked in the spaces
provided.
You will need to refer to the answer key below to
mark the test.
Interpretation of scores
A score of 0–50 indicates that a student should use
Connections 1. A score of 51–80 indicates that a
student should use Connections 2.
Note: the test is intended to show how well a student
would cope with the content of each level of
Connections . However, it is advisable to confirm the
results with brief oral interviews if there is time.
Borderline cases will always occur, so students
scoring 40–60 should be monitored closely at the
start of the corse.
