introduction

Good afternoon everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is ..., I’m from HP company and today I would like to tell you something about this firm. I’m going to divide my presentation into four parts. First I’ll tell you about company’s history. After that I’ll move on to the present. Next I’ll see to the organization and finally the objectives.

So let’s start with some historical information.

history

HP was founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard - two Stanford University engineering graduates who decided the company's name with a coin toss. The company's first product, built in a garage, was an audio oscillator - an electronic test instrument used by sound engineers. One of HP's first customers was Walt Disney Studios, which purchased eight oscillators to develop and test an innovative sound system for the movie Fantasia.

Now let’s move on to the present.

the present

Nowadays HP is a world leading provider of products, technologies, solutions and services to consumers and businesses, spanning IT infrastructure, personal computing and access devices, global services, imaging and printing. A new era in our history began on 3 May 2002, when we merged with Compaq Computer Corporation. The merged company would have had combined revenue of approximately $82 billion in 2001, with operations in more than 160 countries. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Carleton Fiorina leads the company, which has headquarters in Palo Alto, California. Our $4 billion annual research and development investment fuels the invention of products, solutions and new technologies, so that we can better serve customers and enter into new markets. We invent, engineer and deliver technology solutions that drive business value, create social value and improve the lives of our customers.

Now I’ll look at how HP is organized.

how hp is organized

Now let’s pass on to HP objectives.

hp objectives

Dave Packard once said: it is necessary that people work together in unison toward common objectives and avoid working at cross purposes at all levels if the ultimate in efficiency and achievement is to be obtained. Now the most important HP’s objectives include: customer loyalty, profit, market leadership, growth, employee commitment, leadership capability and global citizenship. HP desires to provide products, services and solutions of the highest quality and the greatest possible value to its customers. HP effort to make the power of its new technologies available to a wide spectrum of people.
