Introduction

This is a collection of 3D Yellow Animated Cursors developed for Windows 95. They lend some variety to the desktop and compliment the many themes available for Windows 95. If you have NT and know what you're doing, you can use these cursors also, but they have not been tested on NT and do not have instructions for NT. For installation under Windows 95 see the "Instructions" below.

Instructions for Windows 95

The installation instructions provided in this file are given only as a courtesy. If you don't know what you are doing, please get help from someone who does.

1. Unzip the 3dycur12.zip file either directly into your \Windows\Cursors file or into a temporary file using an unzip utility such as WinZip or PKzip. If you unzipped to a temporary file, copy the cursors into \Windows\Cursors.

2. Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.

3. In Control Panel, double click on Mouse for Mouse Properties. Click on Pointers in Mouse Properties.

4. For each cursor shown, hit Browse, then select the corresponding 3D Yellow Cursor (all start with 3dy...). For the "application in background" and "busy" cursors choose one from the several provided. Then hit Open. You should now see the new 3D Yellow Cursor shown for that event.

5. Continue this until you have selected all the cursors. At this time you may want to save this as a cursor scheme. Type in a name (3D Yellow Cursors) and hit Save As.

6. Exit Mouse Properties and Control Panel. You're done!

Note 1: 3dybusy4.ani and 3dybusy6.ani are 256 color cursors. You must have Windows 95 Plus! installed and a true or high color video card to take advantage of these icons (enable high color mode under "Settings/Control Panel/Display Properties/Plus!"). You can also use Microangelo Engineer (shareware) or MULEVEL (freeware), but still must have a true or high color video card. MULEVEL is available from the 3D Yellow Animated Cursors home page.

Note 2: 3dybus10.ani is a 60 second timer and can be used to measure waiting time for your applications.

Credits

The basic cursor set is modeled after a freeware blue animated and static cursor set developed by Chris Prescott. I wish to thank him for permission to use his ideas. His cursor set is available at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Park/4467. The 3D gold star busy cursor is used with permission from a gold cursor set by Matt Brown. The animated color star and atom were made by me based on animated gifs by Matt Brown. Matt's artwork may be found at http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~mattb. The animated clock cursors were modeled after a clock cursor by Juan C. Pradas-Bergnes.
