Mortal Kombat Technical Guide ============================= If you experience memory problems with MORTAL KOMBAT it may be necessary to create a boot disk as follows: 1: First format a blank floppy disk by inserting a disk into the drive and typing: FORMAT A: /S 2: Using an editor of your choice create 2 files on this disk, one called CONFIG.SYS and the other AUTOEXEC.BAT. The CONFIG.SYS file should look something like this (the first three lines are the most important): DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS BUFFERS=10,0 FILES=30 DOS=HIGH,UMB LASTDRIVE=C FCBS=16,0 STACKS=9,256 The AUTOEXEC.BAT file should be kept as simple as possible. The game only requires 550K of base RAM to run correctly, but it is always a good idea to keep the AUTOEXEC.BAT file streamlined as some memory residant programs may conflict with this software. Once this is done turn off your PC, insert the newly created boot disk and switch the machine back on. After MSDOS has booted you will now be able to move into the directory where the MORTAL KOMBAT game is stored. To set your sound and control preferences just type: Setup Once you have done this once, you can then load the game by simply typing: MK This will skip all of the setup options. Keyboard ======== To aid your further enjoyment of this product we have changed the keyboard control options to allow all keys to be used or redefined. For this reason the Pause, Music On/Off, Sound On/Off keys have now been changed to: PAUSE : <Alt>+P SOUND ON/OFF : <Alt>+S MUSIC ON/OFF : <Alt>+M Unless you have three hands, using the keyboard to play the game can be quite tricky- so we have simplified three of the more complicated moves just to make things slightly easier. Obviously these moves now differ from those listed in the instruction manual. Sonya ===== Move: Leg Toss Change: Use BLOCK, LOW PUNCH and LOW KICK. Do not press the DOWN key. Sub Zero ======== Move: Power Slide Change: Use BLOCK, LOW PUNCH and LOW KICK. Do not press the AWAY key.
