The album was cleaned on an EV-1, which is KAB Electro Acoustics’ version of the
Nitty Gritty. It was transcribed on a Technics SL- 1200MK5 turntable with custom
modifications by KAB Electro-Acoustics using an Audio-Technica AT150MLX
cartridge with a MicroLine stylus. The preamp was a Carver C-2. Analog to
digital conversion at 24-bit/96kHz was with an E-MU 0202. Recording of each disc
was as a single wav image file on a Sony VAIO desktop computer with a 3.0 GHz
Pentium IV processor using Cool Edit Pro 2.1 at 32-bit/96kHz, floating. Cool
Edit Pro was used to remove extra "silence" at the beginning and end of each
side and to drop and name cues. Some clicks were removed “manually” using Cool
Edit Pro's “fill single click now” command. In anticipation of the production of
an extra sample, during resampling to 16-bit/44.1kKz, each 96kHz image was
trimmed to a length which is one less than a multiple of 1280 samples so that
the resampled 16-bit file ends on a CD sector boundary. Each 32-bit image was
saved as a 24-bit/96kHz image so it could be opened in ClickRepair. ClickRepair
was used with a declick setting of 50. No other amplification, noise reduction
or editing was done. QueListTool v1.7 was used to extract and save each image
cue file. The cue file was used in foobar to split each image to wav tracks and
then QuickSFV was used to create an md5 checksum file for the wave tracks. These
wav tracks were deleted. Using the wav image cue once again in foobar, the image
files were again split into tracks, and this time compressed to FLAC (level 8)
and tagged. The FLACs were then decoded and checked using the checksums from the
never compressed wavs. No differences were found, providing confidence that no
errors occurred in encoding the Hi-Rez files to FLAC, which some claim is
likely. The m3u files were created with Mp3tag. The 24-bit/96kHz wav images were
resampled to 16-bit/44.1kHz in Cooled it Pro using Gaussian dithering with a bit
depth of 1. The wav image cue file was converted to a wav tracks cue file using
CUE Tools, which only works with 16-bit/44.1kHz files
