Obviously there's something differentabout this issue
ofCommodore World. Nomistaking thatthecoverhas
gonefromfull-color to shades ofgray. But internally
we have revamped things as well. Financial reality
has meant either raising prices, or cutting costs.
Since we're reluctant to charge more for the
publication, we've targeted some areas of the
publication which wefelt would have the least impact
on the quality ofthe information provided.
We started by removing colorfrom the cover, then
reducedpagecountbyremoving the Trivaandsomeof
the CMD advertising. This didn '1 get us down quite as
farasnecessary, so we 've lostsome editorial space as
well in this issue. However, some addtional shuffling
andredesigning ofcertain pages willbe completedfor
our next issue to regain that room.
All ofthis might leadyou to wonderjust how much
longerCommodore World will last. As we'vestaled in
thepast, it is our intention to maintain thepublication
as long as possible by taking the necessary steps
required to make this happen. The changes in this
issue are an indication ofus doingjust that—insuring
the magazine's longevity instead ofdropping it when
it is no longerprofitable. To that end, we hope you'II
understandthat thechangestakingplacearenecessary.
And once the costs are under better control, we'll be
abletotakeadditionalsteps toimprovethediversityof
the content and regularity ofpublication.
