Preventive operation
–Fixing a sheath stop onto the front window lift
mechanism.
When to take action
– The first time the vehicle is brought into the
workshop.
Objective
– To prevent the front window lift from not operating
correctly.

– Position a sheath stop on the front right- and left-
hand window lift mechanisms.

FITTING A SHEATH STOP
Operation to be carried out on the right- and left-hand
window lift mechanisms.
REMOVAL
– Unclip the frame flap (A) (see
Workshop Repair
Manual 365, 72A, Side opening elements trim,
Front door flap
).
IMPORTANT
Do not disconnect the electric window plate
connectors.
– Pass the electric window plate through its opening.
1–Mounting hole
B– Sheath stop
– Pass the sheath stop behind the control cable and
the support rail.
– Position the open sheath stop (B) in the mounting
hole (1).
–Close the stop by squeezing the control cable sheath
into its housing.
–Tighten the sheath stop mounting bolt manually.
IMPORTANT
Do not allow the window to come into contact with
the sheath stop when it is being lowered.
–Gradually lower the window as far as possible in
order to slacken the control cable completely.
IMPORTANT
The sheath stop mounting bolt MUST be tightened in
the window down position.
A– Door frame flap
– Open the door frame flap and keep it open (using
masking tape).
– Lower the window by
25 mm
to slacken the control
cable.
–Tighten to torque the sheath stop mounting bolt
(
6.5 Nm
±
0.15
).
– Open and close the window to make sure that it is
operating correctly.
REFITTING
– Refit the removed components in the reverse order to
removal.

FITTING A SHEATH STOP
Operation to be carried out on the right- and left-hand
window lift mechanisms.
REMOVAL
– Unclip the frame flap (A) (see
MR 365, 72A, Side
opening elements trim, Front door flap
).
IMPORTANT
Do not disconnect the electric window plate
connectors.
– Pass the electric window plate through its opening.
1–Mounting hole
B– Sheath stop
C– Star section sheathing
IMPORTANT
The sheath stop MUST be fixed onto the control
cable sheath.
Cut the sheath for the star section (C) if necessary.
– Pass the sheath stop behind the control cable and
the support rail.
– Position the open sheath stop (B) in the mounting
hole (1).
–Close the stop by squeezing the control cable sheath
into its housing.
–Tighten the sheath stop mounting bolt manually.
IMPORTANT
Do not allow the window to come into contact with
the sheath stop when it is being lowered.
A– Door frame flap
– Open the door frame flap and keep it open (using
masking tape).
– Lower the window by
25 mm
to slacken the control
