Alot Notes is a notepad, where you can add notes and view older ones. The Notes map is displayed in a very quick to read tree format, much like explorer. This allows you to add, and find, notes very easily. Simply add a new note and enter a title. You are now ready to enter your note.
The best feature is the efficiency of Notes. The unobtrusive Notes tab on you display while you work. As soon as you need to use notes, it's right there for you, just one click away. This is convenient for cutting and pasting repetitious information to and from many programs without waiting for other programs to load up.
To create a new note:
1) make sure the notes tree has the input focus.
2) click Insert key on your keyboard or click the New Note button on the toolbar, this button has a note displayed on it and resides in the right top corner of the notes window. Another way is to use the Start button, this button is similar to the Windows(R) Start button.
3) enter the title for the new note and press Enter.
4) Press Enter key again or Tab key to enter an Edit Field. You may also enter the Edit Field by clicking it with the mouse.
5) You are done, now you can edit the note. You don't have to save it or close it when you finish with editing, it is saved automatically each time you switch to any other windows program or click either close or minimize button.
Notes and subnotes.
When you press the Insert key the new note creates as a subnote of the currently selected note.
To delete the note:
1) select the note you wish to delete
2) press the Del key on your keyboard or click the Delete button on the toolbar.
3) if the selected note contains subnotes, you will get the confirmation popup telling you that. Confirm deletion (or do not confirm).
All notes you delete not going to nowhere immediately, they going to Deleted folder, later you can restore all the deleted items the way you can find a thrown away paper in your basket. To restore the deleted item
Notes organized in a tree, that is, each note can contain as much subnotes as you wish, and even more! Each subnote can contain subnotes too! So each note is also a folder to hold other notes. When you add a subnote to a note, the parent note icon is changed to help you to navigate in the tree.
You can drag notes from folder to folder to arrange them in a way you like. When you create a note, you don't have to think "do I place it in the proper place?" because you can always move the note to another location.
To drag the note just click it with the mouse and holding the mouse button down move it to the desired location and then release the mouse button.
When you drop the dragged note it appears next to the note you have dropped it onto, if you wish the note drop into the destination note as a subnote, use the Shift key.
Editing note is just entering your text or pasting it from other program. What can confuse you is that Notes window disapears away from your screen when you click with your mouse any other program. The feature is called auto hide. Each time Alot Notes hides itself it automatically saves all data. In other programs you have to save your data and then switch to another application, with Notes you have only to switch to another program and saving will be done automatically.
There are few items in the tree that can't be changed ot deleted, they are:
Alot Notes About Box

By checking or unchecking this box you can show or hide the tool bar. Hiding is useful if you use keyboard to create and delete notes and don't want it to take space.
Minimize Instead of Close
When you click the cross button in the right top corner of a window, usually programs are geting closed, but Notes designed to run all the time your computer is on, so when you click this button Notes just minimize not close. But if you wish this feature off you can uncheck this box.
Internet Explorer Like Tree Look
These days many people have used to threes that do not have the open/close (plus/minus) buttons, and expand when you just click the item itself. Check this box if you are one of these people.
Hide Notes Window To
When Alot Notes window hide off the screen it can minimize into a tab on the edge of screen or into a system tray icon next to windows clock, your WinAmp, ICQ, Modem and other icons.
Tab On The Screen Edge
Using tab is better than Icon because you can drag files on the tab, the tab is easier to locate on the screen.
System Tray icon
You may think that Notes Tab is a freak feature and used to Windows Systray icons. In this case check this option and you will never see this "ugly tab". Although we don't think it's ugly, and we think it is quite nice and beautifull.
Special
Don't read further if you don't want to get too closer tech look at the program.
