So you have downloaded all these cool actions… now what do you do with them?
Here’s the process for loading actions into Photoshop.
1) In Photoshop, open the Actions Palette. You may use the keyboard shortcut Command/Control+F9, or simply go to Window>Actions in the menu system
at the top of the screen.
2) When your palette opens, it will be in one of two modes: Button Mode or List/Edit Mode.
Button mode displays the actions as color coded buttons that you click on with the mouse to play the action.
List, or Edit Mode shows the action sets and the actions they contain as a collapsible and expandable folder system. (Actions can only be saved as sets
containing one or more actions.)
In the example above, the default action set is loaded. When the small arrow nest to the set name is clicked, the action set expands in the palette to show
every action in the set. You’ll note that the names of these actions match those seen on the buttons earlier.

3) Actions are loaded into the palette via the Actions Menu. This menu is accessed by clicking the small arrow button in the upper right corner of the palette.
Click on the small arrow and open the actions menu. You'll see a long list of commands and functions that sure able to perform via this menu, but the one
we are concerned with is the Loaded Actions Command found about two-thirds of the way down the list. Highlight this command and click on with the
mouse.
4) Your computer' s navigation system will open and you can find the actions you wish to load wherever you save them to on your hard drive. Keep in mind
that you do not need to save actions within the Photoshop directory, but they may be loaded and utilized from anywhere on your hard drive or even a CD.

If you're having trouble finding actions were knowing which files to load, actions will always have a .atn file extension.
When you have navigated your computer and found actions you would like to run in Photoshop, highlight that action set and click the Load button.
5) The action set that you selected will now appear in the Actions Palette.

The actions in the set you loaded our now ready to play in Photoshop. I will cover that more in the Playing Actions tutorial. If you were to switch to Button
Mode, the actions just loaded with appear as color coded buttons as seen in the next example. If the set contains only one action, that only one button will
appear. If the set contains more than one action, that a button for each action will appear.
