README.TXT NOTES ON MCS RSS VERSION R03.00.00 ================================== Below is a summary of the various MCS RSS enhancements and MCS Radio feature support introduced in release R03.00.00 of the MOTOROLA MCS RSS. With the exception of RSS software enhancements (denoted by '*'), most of the MCS RSS new features allow the programming of radio options. Therefore, the availability of these options depends on the capability of the particular MCS radio being programmed. Please consult the MCS RSS user manual for a detailed description of the respective features. NEW FEATURES: ------------ 01 - MDC Message. 02 - MDC Status. 03 - MDC Call Alert Encode. 04 - MDC Selective Call Encode. 05 - MDC Emergency Call. 06 - MDC Emergency Hot Mic. 07 - Hand Held Control Head. 08 - 2 Line Display Radio. 09 - Car Radio Mute.** 10 - Control Station Equipped.** 11 - Singletone. 12 - Quik - Call II. 13 - Secure Emphasis/De-emphasis Selection. 14 - Native Language Display. 15 - RSSI Tuning. 16 - FLASHport. **: Feature is available in MCS RSS but is not supported by the current radio firmware. Setting this feature in RSS will NOT have any effect on the radio. This feature will be supported by the next radio firmware version. KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS RELEASE: ------------------------------ - When Cloning, the progress bar is displayed while the radio is being programmed. However, when programming is complete, the "Radio Successfully Programmed" status message is only displayed for a very short time. - If you have a codeplug in memory that has a different serial number from the radio that is connected via the RIB, you get an appropriate warning message when you enter the SERVICE menu (F2). If you respond CONTINUE (F2), everything is OK. If you respond CANCEL (F10), you get an inappropriate status message saying "Read Radio Completed Successfully", when in fact the radio was not read. - When Other-Band Trunking (UHF, VHF) systems are added and you visit the Channel Assignment screen for the new systems, the Frequency and Spacing fields are displayed even though the Status field is blank. These fields are harmless and do not affect radio operation. - For Other-Band Trunking (UHF, VHF) systems, it is possible to have more than 380 channels described on the Channel Assignment screen. It requires a relatively complicated process to get into this state, but it is possible.
