Our majestic lakes, unspoiled rivers and impressive mountains
beckon with unbridled adventure. Bourbon distilleries, winer-
ies, horse farms and big-city entertainment also invite you to
our Commonwealth. Everywhere you’ll feel the world-famous
hospitality and “unbridled spirit” of our people.
The governor and fi rst lady take a spin in a shiny
Corvette. The classic sports cars are made in Kentucky.
The year 2011 is an auspicious time to visit Kentucky. It marks the 100th anniversary of the
birth of Bill Monroe, the father of Bluegrass music, and is the 75th anniversary of Keeneland
in Lexington. The sesquicentennial of the Civil War is also being observed at several key sites.
In July, Kentucky Speedway in Sparta will host its inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
The Breeders’ Cup, thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious competition, will be held at
Louisville’s Churchill Downs in November.
